"Wild Style" at Peres Projects, Berlin by Richard Schemmerer

Wild Style: Exhibition of Figurative Art

"Wild Style" at Peres Projects

Wild style attempts to bring together the wild things of art -- the ancient and the contemporary -- to give us a new perspective, a visual inside into the development of art as we observe it in a different way. It invites us to see what is now called traditional art in this case pre-modern African sculptures collected by Javier Peres with the wild style of todays artists and it succeeds to make both look freshly inspired.

The opening night was especially impressive and enhanced by the performance work of Donna Huanca.
This encourages a whole new way of collecting and combining art to establish a sense of aesthetic that has been missing of late in the either go for broke or way to minimal art installations that dominate the galleries and museums around the world.

This was an all-around satisfying viewing experience and I can only urge you to go and visit the gallery while this show is up in this constellation for observation and contemplation.
